Wedding Crashers 2011

I participated in something supremely awesome the other day – the second annual Brooklyn Based Wedding Crashers event! It was an amazing day! I got to meet tons of lovely engaged ladies in various stages of their wedding planning. Many future grooms as well, which was cool because sometimes I never even meet the grooms!

I got to see some of my friends and colleagues in the wedding biz doing their thing like the pros they are. Great to see Tammy Golson Events, Rebecca Shepherd Floral Design & Adornments, Kristina Hill Photography, Inspired Goodness, Naturally Delicious, Lion In The Sun, Rock Paper Scissors Events.

I also got the chance to meet some seasoned pros who’s work I’d been well aware of, but hadn’t had the chance to meet yet, like Nine Cakes, Dish Food & Events, Katie Fischer Design, Oak Street Studio, E. Leigh Photography, Nicole Lenzen, NewlyWish, Elegantly Iced, One Girl Cookies, and more.

The crowd was a great mix of couples and wedding professionals, both up and coming and seasoned pros. It was great to meet and network with so many energetic, enthusiastic people! The couples I met were all so kind and warm and excited to be there. I was just doing quickie 5 minute makeovers, eyes and lips, but hopefully that was enough to entice the clients to want to see the full luxury treatment on their wedding day. Here’s hoping!

A giant, massive shout out to my staff for the day. I didn’t anticipate such a large crowd – so when I was busy with someone in the makeup chair, there were tons of people still milling about the NYC Faces table asking questions, so, thankfully I had my boys on hand to help out. My lovely husband Chris (also my website designer) and my friend Jamie Dwyer (who also does all my graphic design work – soon to be found at electricwondercreative.com). They learned how to clean makeup brushes super fast that day!

And when all that madness was complete, there was an after party at the Green Building. I was zonked at that point but still had to check it out. Was so pleased to meet Kristin of Photomuse after having seen and admired her work in the past.

The fashion show by Gabriella Bridal was stunning. Amazing work by Jessa of Blades Natural Beauty, I was so excited to finally meet her as well. And the hairstyling by Nackie of The Parlour Brooklyn salon was so good, I’ve already made an appointment to go see her next week.

Overall, it was an amazing day filled with wonderful conversations and connections and tasty treats. Can’t wait for the next one! Thanks so much to Tammy Golson and Nicole Davis of Brooklyn Based for letting me participate!!!
